Jonathan Dowell

Jonathan Dowell is Professor in Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, serving as Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Dallas VA Medical Center. He specializes in thoracic malignancies including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymoma. Dr. Dowell earned his neuroscience degree from Amherst College (magna cum laude), medical degree from University of Chicago, and completed residency at UT Southwestern followed by hematology/oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University.

His research examines chemotherapy protocols, pharmacokinetics, and clinical trial methodologies for thoracic cancers. Recent publications analyze venous thrombosis risk factors in cancer patients and combination therapies for malignant mesothelioma.

He chairs the Simmons Cancer Center Data and Safety Monitoring Committee and co-chairs transfusion utilization committees at Dallas VA. Professional memberships include American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.
