Dr. Jonathan Di John is Senior Lecturer in Political Economy at SOAS Department of Development Studies, specializing in Latin American political economy with PhD from Cambridge. Former principal researcher at LSE Crisis States Centre, he has consulted for UNDP, DFID, World Bank, OECD and IMF.
Research examines:
- Industrial strategy in resource-rich economies
- Tax reform and state capacity
- Conflict dynamics in mineral-abundant regions
- Privatization impacts in developing contexts
Recent work analyzes high-value agriculture industrialization and development banking mechanisms. Current PhD supervision includes studies on Malaysian development banking and Nigerian enterprise formalization.
