Dr. Jonathan Denton serves as an Assistant Professor of Christian Studies at Charleston Southern University, where he trains the next generation of student ministry leaders. He is affiliated with the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership and has over 20 years of experience in student ministry, including 10 years in a South Mississippi church prior to joining CSU.
- Ph.D. in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
- Th.M. and Master of Divinity in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from Clemson University
Dr. Denton’s research focuses on student ministry leadership, faith development, and family ministry models. His work emphasizes adolescent males’ spiritual growth, college transition strategies, and equipping leaders for effective discipleship.
His academic contributions include publications on youth ministry frameworks, adolescent faith development, and leadership training, presented at conferences such as the Society of Professors in Christian Education and the Evangelical Theological Society.

Dr. Denton actively mentors students called to ministry and collaborates with local churches in Charleston. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Association of Youth Ministry Educators.
