Jonathan Dawes is a Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath. He is currently on secondment to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) as Deputy Executive Chair for EPSRC from February 2023 to August 2025, highlighting his leadership in research funding and science policy. His academic work bridges pure and applied mathematics with interdisciplinary applications in biology, fluid dynamics, and sustainable development.

He has made significant contributions to understanding oscillatory dynamics in cell fate decisions, echo state networks for time series analysis, and quantitative modeling of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) interlinkages. His scientific awards include support from the Royal Society for undergraduate summer internships, reflecting his commitment to research training.
