Jonathan D Klein

Jonathan D Klein is the Marron and Mary Elizabeth Kendrick Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine, with a clinical focus on Adolescent Medicine. He holds academic appointments as a Professor in the University Medical Line and is a member of Bio-X and the Maternal & Child Health Research Institute. His professional roles include President of the International Association for Adolescent Health and member of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (STAGE).

Research Interests: Dr. Klein focuses on adolescent healthcare access, confidentiality in clinical settings, tobacco control, and global health policy. Current work includes improving healthcare delivery for adolescents, analyzing electronic health record confidentiality, and addressing non-communicable diseases through global health initiatives. He also investigates long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection (long COVID) and the impact of climate change on youth health.

Publications: Recent work emphasizes global health equity, long-term post-COVID outcomes, and tobacco prevention strategies. His studies highlight disparities in PASC among ethnic groups and the role of healthcare systems in mitigating climate-related health threats.

Grants & Leadership: Leads the NIH-funded RECOVER initiative for long-COVID research and collaborates on global health projects. His work integrates clinical practice, policy advocacy, and translational research to improve adolescent health outcomes worldwide.
