معرفی
Professor Jonathan Coles is a clinician-scientist at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the Division of Anaesthesia (Department of Medicine) within the Clinical School. His research focuses on neurocritical care and traumatic brain injury (TBI), leveraging advanced imaging techniques like PET and MRI. He leads studies at the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre and Neurosciences Critical Care Unit, investigating TBI pathophysiology, cerebral metabolism, and neuroprotection.
Key research interests include post-injury cerebral ischemia, metabolic derangements, and the role of imaging in monitoring TBI progression. He collaborates with the CENTER-TBI consortium and contributes to global efforts like the NIMROD study on neuroinflammation and dementia.
His work examines thalamic connectivity in mild TBI, amyloid/tau deposition in Down syndrome, and biomarkers for TBI outcomes. He has co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to clinical guidelines for TBI management and critical care protocols.
- Research Themes: Neurons, Circuits and Networks; Brains and Machines; Lifelong Brain Development
- Equipment: PET, MRI, Diffusion Tensor Imaging
- Clinical Focus: Neurocritical Care, TBI Pathophysiology, Neuroimaging
Recent studies include analyzing thalamic hyperconnectivity's role in post-concussive symptoms and developing biomarker-based outcome predictions for TBI patients.
