Jonathan Carrivick is an Academic at the University of Leeds, affiliated with the Faculty of Environment and the School of Earth and Environment. His research focuses on earth surface processes in polar, Arctic, and alpine environments, particularly glacial outburst floods (jökulhlaups), glacier-lake interactions, and geomorphological responses to deglaciation.
- Research areas: Glacial Hydrology, Geomorphology, Deglaciation Ecology, Sediment Transport
He supervises numerous PhD and MRes students on glacier dynamics, hydrology, and proglacial landscape evolution, many funded by NERC, EU-ITN, and institutional grants. Current research projects include Deconstructing landscape legacies of cataclysmic mass flows (SuperSlug) and The Future of Andean Water Towers.
His teaching contributions include modules on the Cryosphere, Earth Surface Processes, and dissertation supervision. He welcomes self-funded and international PhD applicants in glacier hydrology and geomorphology.
