Jonathan Cardoso-Silva

Dr. Jonathan Cardoso-Silva is an Assistant Professor (Education) at the LSE Data Science Institute. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from King’s College London and previously served as a postdoctoral researcher in LSE’s Department of Methodology. His roles include Deputy Head of Education at DSI and leading courses DS105 (Data for Data Science) and DS205 (Advanced Data Manipulation).

Education: PhD in Computer Science (King’s College London, 2018); prior industry experience includes roles at Data Science Brigade (Brazil) and software company INDRA.

Research focuses on pedagogical practices in data science education, generative AI’s impact on learning (e.g., GENIAL project), and network analysis. Projects include VIMuRe (statistical network analysis tools) and ChatLSE (RAG system for institutional knowledge).

Awards: 2023 LSESU Teaching Award for Feedback & Communication.

Student supervision includes guiding undergraduates in real-world data projects via LSE’s DSI initiatives.
