- Masters in Economics from University College Dublin (2012-2013)
- Bachelors in Economics from University College Dublin (2009-2012)
Dr. Briody's research interests span health economics, chronic disease modeling, epidemiological transition, and the economic impact of healthcare interventions. He specializes in cost-effectiveness analysis for conditions like colorectal cancer and diabetes, using simulation models to evaluate population health outcomes. His work often examines the relationship between socioeconomic factors and health outcomes, including studies on unemployment effects on maternal and child health.
His publication record reveals a consistent focus on the intersection of economics and public health, with particular attention to chronic diseases, epidemiological transitions, and health system interventions. Recent work has examined historical patterns of immigration and circulatory disease in Australia, economic evaluations of healthcare professional development, and the impact of economic conditions on health outcomes across different population groups.
Dr. Briody has supervised thesis projects on diabetes care economics and genomic testing for breast cancer. He has secured research funding including a Science Foundation Ireland project on diabetes direction and School of Population Health funding from RCSI. His collaborative work includes projects with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and participation in European research networks like DEDIPAC.
He has received specialized training in decision modeling through courses from the University of York, University of Minnesota, and ISPOR, with a focus on health economic evaluation techniques using R programming.
