Dr. Jonathan Brant is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management at the University of Wyoming, where he focuses on environmental engineering, nanotechnology, and advanced water treatment processes. He serves as the Director and Research Lead of the Center for Excellence in Produced Water Management (CEPWM), leading projects in resource recovery from industrial wastewaters.
- Education: Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (University of Nevada, Reno, 2003), M.S. in Environmental Engineering (University of Nevada, Reno, 2000), B.S. in Civil Engineering (Virginia Military Institute, 1998)
His research spans membrane technology, nanomaterials, and produced water management, with a focus on desalination, fouling mechanisms, and recovery of rare earth elements. Publications highlight applications in water reuse, magnetic field modulation of nanoparticle behavior, and bio-inspired membrane design.
Key trends in his recent work include nanocomposite membranes, electromagnetic effects on water treatment, and techno-economic assessment of resource recovery. He contributes to understanding nanoparticle interactions with natural systems and optimizing membrane performance in subsurface desalination.
Dr. Brant is affiliated with professional societies such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Water Works Association (AWWA), and North American Membrane Society (NAMS). He has authored book chapters on ion exchange processes, fullerene clusters, and membrane fouling characterization.
