Jonathan Bhatia

Jonathan Bhatia serves as the Lecturer of Trumpet at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Department of Music within the College of Liberal Arts. He is a founding member of the international chamber ensemble Alias Brass and Second Trumpet of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra. A Yamaha Performing Artist, he holds an M.M. and B.A. from UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music, studying under Jens Lindemann and Tom Hooten. His performance history includes prestigious venues globally, notable collaborations with orchestras like the Houston Symphony and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and recordings featured in films and albums such as Northern Lights and Prism.

Dr. Bhatia’s teaching career includes expanding Lamar University’s trumpet studio and mentoring students competing nationally. His educational mission emphasizes fostering creativity and technical excellence through masterclasses and the BrassHaus Network, a platform for classical brass innovation. Awards include the Stanley Wilson and Fred Ohlendorf Awards, alongside Grammy consideration for Alias Brass’s work.
