Jonathan Askin is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy (BLIP) Clinic at Brooklyn Law School. He also serves as Faculty Chair and Innovation Catalyst for the Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship (CUBE). His work focuses on leveraging technology for social, economic, and environmental justice, with expertise in Internet Law, Telecommunications Law, and policy innovation. Educated at Harvard University (A.B.) and Rutgers Law School (J.D.), he has held visiting roles at institutions like Stanford University and MIT Media Lab. He advises startups, chairs policy committees, and contributes to tech governance initiatives.
Research Interests: Askin’s research addresses digital governance, entrepreneurship law, and the intersection of technology with legal frameworks. He explores how law can adapt to support emerging ventures and societal challenges in the digital age. His publications include analyses of data privacy, legal innovation, and cross-border policy.
Professional Contributions: Askin has served on committees for presidential and mayoral campaigns, advising on technology policy. He leads the BLIP Clinic, providing legal support to startups and innovators, and founded the Brooklyn Justice Lab. His roles include board memberships with industry groups like the Universal Service Administrative Company and the Video on the Net Alliance.
