Jonas Schluter, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Systems Genetics and Department of Microbiology within the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He holds a PhD from Oxford University and completed postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His research focuses on leveraging the microbiota as a therapeutic target, integrating ecological and evolutionary models with clinical data to develop microbiome-based interventions. Schluter's work spans causal microbiome- immune system relationships, microbial warfare dynamics, and evolutionary game theory applied to host-microbiota interactions. His lab investigates clinical trials for microbiota-targeted therapies and has contributed to high-impact studies in Science, Nature, and Cell Host & Microbe.
Research interests include: Microbiome Medicine, Immune System Dynamics, and Ecological Therapeutics. Schluter has been awarded the NIH New Innovator Award and ASCO Young Investigator Award. His lab actively collaborates on grants and trials, including studies on CAR T-cell therapy outcomes and bacteremia prevention. The Schluter Lab is located at NYU Langone's Science Building, recruiting enthusiastic researchers for interdisciplinary projects.
