Jonas Lundblad serves as an Affiliated Researcher at the Department of Musicology, Uppsala University, and holds the position of Associate Professor (docent) in historical musical aesthetics at Åbo Academy University. His academic work bridges musicology, theology, and performance practice with particular focus on organ music and aesthetics.
Lundblad's educational background includes a Master of Fine Arts in Church Music (2005), Master of Music in Organ Performance (2006), and Concert Organist Diploma (2009). He also earned a Master of Theology (2008) from Lund University where he served as a doctoral fellow in Systematic Theology. His international research experience includes fellowships at Glasgow University's School of Critical Studies and Berlin's Humboldt University.
His research centers on historical musical aesthetics with particular emphasis on German Romanticism, Swedish church music history, and the works of Olivier Messiaen. Lundblad investigates interconnections between music history, aesthetics, and performance practice, with special attention to 20th century French and Swedish music. His scholarly output demonstrates consistent focus on organ music, Lutheran musical traditions, and theological dimensions of musical aesthetics.
