Dr. Jonas Fritzler is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Research Training Group 'World Politics' at Bielefeld University. His research focuses on human security norms, particularly the role of small states and middle powers in defending norms like Responsibility to Protect (R2P) amid global geopolitical shifts. He holds a MSc in Political Science (International Relations) from the University of Amsterdam and a BA in Political Science from Goethe University Frankfurt.
His academic career includes:
- Lecturer at the University of Amsterdam's Department of Political Science (2017–2020)
- Visiting Researcher at CUNY's Ralph Bunche Institute (2022)
Research Interests: Small state diplomacy, norm entrepreneurship, global governance, R2P, Protection of Civilians (PoC), and international relations theory.
Recent contributions include analyses of Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden’s diplomatic strategies in maintaining human security norms. His work bridges constructivist theory and 'lesser power' typologies to explain norm advocacy in crises.
