Gregor Hofmann

Gregor Hofmann serves as Head of the Presidential Department at the Berlin Social Science Center, co-leading with Dr. Corinne Heaven. He previously held roles at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) and conducted research at the Ralph Bunche Institute in New York. His expertise lies in international norms, global governance, and the Responsibility to Protect (R2P). Hofmann earned a PhD in Political Science from Goethe University Frankfurt (2018), an MA from the same institution (2011), and a BA from Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (2008).

His research explores norm contestation, geopolitical conflict resolution, and the tension between humanitarian intervention and state sovereignty. Key interests include the evolution of R2P, international policy frameworks, and multilateral arms control dynamics. Hofmann has contributed to over 15 academic works, focusing on global justice conflicts and normative frameworks in international relations.

His career spans academic research, policy advising, and institutional leadership. Notable roles include Advisor to PRIF’s Executive Director (2018–2021) and intern at Germany’s Federal Foreign Office (2010). Hofmann’s work bridges theoretical analysis with practical policy implications in global governance structures.
