Jon Sin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. His research focuses on understanding host-virus interactions, particularly in the context of coxsackievirus B infections.
Dr. Sin's research aims to uncover how viruses hijack or alter cellular pathways during infection. By identifying these mechanisms, his lab works toward developing innovative antiviral strategies that not only reduce viral replication but also mitigate disease progression. His work sits at the intersection of virology, molecular biology, and cellular pathophysiology.
His research program is actively recruiting both undergraduate and graduate students, indicating ongoing and expanding research activities. Though specific publications and awards are not listed, his scientific focus suggests strong relevance to infectious disease therapeutics and cellular defense mechanisms.
Dr. Sin earned his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from San Diego State University in 2013 and completed his undergraduate studies in General Biology at the University of California, San Diego in 2007. He advises students and conducts research aimed at translating basic virological findings into potential clinical applications.
He can be reached at jon.sin2@utdallas.edu, (619) 578-3732, and is located in room RL 2.704 on the UT Dallas campus.
