Jon Serrano Sevillano is a postdoctoral researcher at the X-ray Diffraction Platform, specializing in Electrochemical Energy Storage. He earned his PhD from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2019 with a thesis on lithium-rich layered oxides for batteries.
His research spans:
- Structural characterization of battery materials using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and solid-state NMR
- Density functional theory (DFT) calculations for defect analysis
- Development of hard carbons as anode materials for Na-ion batteries
Recent publications highlight his work on stacking faults, microstructural control, and rock-salt surface reconstruction in cathode materials. Collaborations include institutions like ICMCB, University of Illinois at Chicago, and CIC energiGUNE.
Scientific awards:
- Cum Laude in the UPV/EHU Science and Technology of Materials Doctorate Program (2019)
His work intersects energy materials and advanced characterization techniques, contributing to understanding structural defects and optimizing battery performance through multidisciplinary approaches.
