Arantzazu Letona Elizburu is a Pre-doctoral Researcher at the CIC energiGUNE, specializing in Electrochemical Energy Storage. She earned her Chemistry degree from the University of Zaragoza in 2020 and completed a Master in New Materials through the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the University of Cantabria.
Her academic work focuses on the development and analysis of materials for energy storage, particularly:
- Materials science
- Metal-air batteries
- Carbon and graphite based materials
At CIC energiGUNE, she has engaged in research involving the synthesis and characterization of iridium complexes, optimization of sodium-air battery designs, and electrochemical and structural characterization using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron microscopy. Her doctoral research centers on the innovative use of biological systems to develop bifunctional cathodes for metal-air batteries. She presented her work on graphene cathodes for sodium-oxygen batteries at the XV REUNIÓN DEL GRUPO ESPAÑOL DEL CARBÓN (GEC-20) conference.
