Jon Rogowski is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Chicago and serves as the Faculty Director of the Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS). He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago (2012) and previously taught at Washington University in St. Louis and Harvard University. His research focuses on American politics, emphasizing representation, political institutions, and the presidency. Notable works include No Blank Check (2022) and The Wartime President (2013), co-authored with William Howell and Saul Jackman. Rogowski explores topics such as executive power, bureaucratic institutions, and historical political dynamics.
His current research investigates the growth of bureaucratic systems and the evolution of presidential authority. Rogowski teaches courses on the American presidency, research methods, and bureaucratic politics. He actively participates in academic service, including co-sponsoring the American Politics Workshop. His publications span journals like the American Political Science Review and Journal of Politics, addressing themes such as legislative organization, electoral reform, and interbranch conflict.
