Andrew Rudalevige is the Thomas Brackett Reed Professor of Government at Bowdoin College, specializing in American political institutions with a focus on the modern presidency and executive branch dynamics. He holds honorary professorships at University College London and is a senior non-resident faculty fellow at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center. His research examines presidential authority, bureaucratic management, and interbranch relations, yielding impactful publications like *By Executive Order* (2021), which won the Neustadt and Brownlow Prizes. He has also authored foundational texts on the presidency, including the 11th edition of *The Politics of the Presidency* (2024).
Rudalevige earned his PhD from Harvard University (2000) and previously taught at Dickinson College and the University of East Anglia. He has served as department chair at Bowdoin and Dickinson and held visiting roles at Sciences Po Lyon and the London School of Economics. His teaching includes courses on public administration and presidential power.
