Jon M. Nese is a Teaching Professor and Associate Head for Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at The Pennsylvania State University. He oversees undergraduate education and leads the Weather and Climate Communications Group, producing the department's weekday weather magazine show Weather World. His work focuses on weather communication, Pennsylvania climatology, and museum education.

Dr. Nese's research interests span Pennsylvania climatology, weather communication, predictability and chaos theory, and museum education. He integrates these areas into his role as a science communicator, bridging academic meteorology with public outreach through television and written media.
Dr. Nese has received significant recognition for his work, including a Mid-Atlantic Emmy for his WxYz (WeatherWhys) segment on Weather World (2015) and the Louis J. Battan Author’s Award from the American Meteorological Society for co-authoring The Philadelphia Area Weather Book (2005).
Prior to joining Penn State, Dr. Nese served as chief meteorologist at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia (1998–2002) and as an on-air storm analyst at The Weather Channel (2002–2005). He has co-authored three books, including the college textbook A World of Weather: Fundamentals of Meteorology (now in its 6th edition).
