Jon Lohse serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Rice University, while concurrently holding a Senior Associate position at Terracon Consultants, Inc. and serving on the Board of Directors for the Gault School of Archaeological Research. A native Houstonian, he completed his graduate education at The University of Texas.
His research specializes in early prehistoric periods across the Americas, particularly Archaic and Paleoindian cultures. Fieldwork spans Texas, Belize, Guatemala, and Oaxaca, with emphasis on preceramic societies, Maya settlement patterns, commoner household archaeology, environmental proxy-based paleoecological reconstructions, high-precision radiocarbon chronologies, and Clovis-era lithic production strategies including tool-making learning processes.
