Jon Levine

Jon Levine is Professor of Neuroscience and Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also directs the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center. He holds a PhD from the University of Illinois and completed postdoctoral training at the Oregon National Primate Research Center.

His research investigates neuroendocrine regulation, focusing on gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons and the mechanisms of ovarian steroid feedback. For over 30 years, he has developed physiological methods to monitor GnRH neurosecretion in awake animals, examining both negative and positive feedback actions of estradiol.

Levine mentors graduate students through the Endocrinology-Reproductive Physiology Program and has supervised doctoral candidates including Emily Greinwald (current) and Molly Willging (2023 graduate). His clinical translational work includes leading multicenter studies on graft-versus-host disease standardization and treatment.
