Jolanda Veldhuis is an Associate Professor in Communication Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Health and Risk Communication and Media Psychology. She holds affiliations with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Network Institute, and Communication Choices, Content and Consequences (CCCC) research group. Her research focuses on negotiating media effects, particularly the impact of social media on adolescent well-being, body image, and health communication strategies. She has conducted studies on selfie behavior, peer feedback dynamics, and the role of social media in normalizing cosmetic procedures.
Education: Master of Biomedical Sciences (Communication & Education), Master in Teaching Biology, with visiting scholar experiences at Ohio State University, University of Cape Town, and University of Namibia.
