Johnson George is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety within the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University. His research focuses on chronic respiratory conditions (Asthma, COPD), nicotine dependence, and pharmacist-led interventions to improve medication adherence and health outcomes. He leads major projects such as APRICOT, ENGAGEMENT, and TERRACOTTA, targeting COPD management, self-management in respiratory conditions, and reducing hospitalizations through treatable traits identification.
Teaching commitments include coordinating PHR2041 and PHR4012, covering chronic respiratory conditions and point-of-care testing. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. Awards include the 2018 Teaching Excellence Award and Vice Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence in a Priority Area.
Recent articles highlight pharmacist-led interventions, COPD case-finding strategies, and smoking cessation programs. He has authored over 160 publications and actively engages in grant reviews and research collaborations across Australia and internationally.
