Chris Barton

Chris Barton is an Associate Professor in the Department of General Practice at Monash University's School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He coordinates the Bachelor of Medical Science Honours program and serves as academic lead for early/mid-career researchers. His research focuses on improving primary care management of chronic respiratory illnesses (asthma/COPD), smoking/vaping cessation, patient experience, and research capacity building in healthcare.

Research interests include:

• Quality improvement in chronic illness management
• Emotional/social impacts of respiratory diseases
• Development of clinical guidelines (e.g., Australia's National Asthma Strategy)
• Research training programs for healthcare professionals
