Johnny Plastini is an Associate Professor of Printmaking and Graduate Advisor of the Printmaking Concentration in the Department of Art and Art History at Colorado State University. He holds an MFA from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University (2012) and a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2008). He also earned a Professional Certificate in Craft Brewing from Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (2024). His research focuses on sustainable printmaking practices, symbiotic lichen ecosystems, and rhizomatic networks, aiming to bridge arts and sciences through interdisciplinary inquiry.

Plastini’s work explores cultural ecologies through printmaking, papermaking, and book arts, emphasizing non-hierarchical systems inspired by natural symbioses. His art has been featured in over 20 national and international exhibitions, including CU Boulder Art Museum and Zayed University (Dubai), with works in major institutional collections. His recent publications include Embodied Forest and contributions to West Branch and New American Paintings.
He teaches courses such as Introduction to Printmaking, Community and Sustainability in Printmaking, and Post-Digital Printmaking, emphasizing sustainable techniques and community engagement.
