John Wynne is an Associate Professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah, specializing in Classics and serving as Coordinator of the Religious Studies programs. His primary appointment dates to 2018, with an additional Adjunct Associate Professor role in the Philosophy Department since 2023.

Dr. Wynne's research focuses on ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, particularly Hellenistic schools such as the skeptical Academy, Stoicism, and Epicureanism. His work extensively examines Cicero's philosophical writings and their intersections with ethics, epistemology, and the philosophy of religion. He also maintains interests in early Christian thought and the historical evolution of contemplative life in Greco-Roman society.
His publications center on Cicero's philosophical dialogues, including analyses of Stoic theology, skepticism, and ethical frameworks in works like De Officiis and De Natura Deorum. Current projects include a book Whence Evil? The Modern Problem of Evil in Ancient Greco-Roman Thought and research on classical contemplative traditions.
