معرفی
John Woodward is a Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor at Northumbria University's Geography and Environmental Sciences Department. His academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Geography (1990), a PhD in Geography (1995), and a Teaching & Learning qualification (PCAPL, 2004).
His research focuses on glaciology, climate science, and Antarctic studies, with a strong emphasis on ice sheet dynamics, glacial geology, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Notable projects include studies of Pine Island Glacier, the Amundsen Sea sector, and Svalbard's glacier dynamics. His work integrates remote sensing, geophysical surveys, and field-based geomorphological analysis to understand past and present glacial changes.
Recent publications highlight advancements in subglacial bedrock drilling techniques, ice sheet stability mechanisms, and the application of novel microscopy protocols in polar environments. Woodward collaborates internationally with institutions studying Antarctica and Arctic regions, contributing to initiatives like the Annals of Glaciology and Quaternary Science Reviews.
He has supervised 8 research students and contributed to impactful projects such as the 'TukCommunity_Letter_of_support' initiative. His interdisciplinary approach bridges geology, climatology, and environmental science, with ongoing focus on climate change impacts on polar ecosystems.
