John Steele is the Charles Edwin Wilbour Professor of Egyptology and Assyriology at Brown University. He holds affiliations in Egyptology and Assyriology and is a senior fellow at New York University's Institute for the Study of the Ancient World. Previously, he served as a Royal Society University Research Fellow at Durham University, an E.P. May Fellow at the University of Toronto, and a Dibner Institute Postdoctoral Fellow.

Research Interests: John specializes in the history of exact sciences in antiquity, particularly Babylonian astronomy. His work explores the intersection of astronomy, mathematics, and culture in ancient Mesopotamia.
