Montclair State Universityمعرفی
John Siekierka is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Montclair State University's College of Science and Mathematics. His research focuses on the biochemical mechanisms of parasite anti-oxidative stress responses, particularly in parasitic nematodes like Brugia malayi and protozoal parasites such as Leishmania mexicana. His work investigates protein kinase signaling pathways critical for parasite survival against host immune responses, with a focus on identifying therapeutic inhibitors of these pathways.
He holds a BS from Seton Hall University, an MS from City College of New York, and a PhD from New York University. His laboratory develops screening assays for protein kinases and explores drug development strategies targeting parasitic stress responses.
Research interests include translational applications of biochemical findings toward antiparasitic treatments, combining molecular biology, biochemistry, and pharmacological approaches to combat neglected tropical diseases caused by these parasites.
