John S. Seberger

John S. Seberger serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science within Drexel University's College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), holding an additional courtesy appointment in the Center for Science, Technology & Society (College of Arts and Sciences).

Seberger's research centers on humanistic and feminist human-computer interaction (HCI), social informatics, and the theoretical underpinnings of archives and computational systems. He investigates how human values like privacy and agency are maintained amid evolving sociotechnical infrastructures, employing interdisciplinary methods from philosophy, psychology, and media studies to examine concepts like creepiness, alienation, and joy.

His notable scientific recognition includes the Intel Science and Technology Center for Social Computing Graduate Fellowship (2012-2015) and multiple awards from SIGCHI communities and the ASIS&T Special Interest Group on Social Informatics.

As co-founder of the DONUTS Collaboratory and a core member of the Re:Enlightenment Project since 2014, Seberger actively contributes to collaborative research initiatives. While not accepting new doctoral students for the 2025-2026 academic year, he has mentored graduate and undergraduate researchers in HCI and social informatics, with his work spanning humanistic psychology, infrastructure studies, and posthumanist theory.
