John Carroll

Dr. John Carroll is Edward M. Frymoyer Professor of Information Sciences and Technology at Pennsylvania State University, where he co-directs the Laboratory for Computer-Supported Collaboration and Learning (CSCL). PhD in Psychology from Columbia University. Pioneer in Human-Computer Interaction field, founded IBM's User Interface Institute.

Research focuses on HCI, design patterns, and collaborative learning systems. Extensive publication record on pattern languages and emergency management systems.
