Dr. John Rogers serves as Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at Benedictine College since 2022, leveraging extensive industry experience in ocean engineering (towed underwater listening systems, ship noise reduction), structural engineering (shipboard equipment foundations), and design engineering (industrial controls for automotive/aircraft plants).
His educational credentials include:
- BS in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, Virginia Tech (1986)
- MS in Mechanical Engineering, Montana State University (1993)
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2003)
Research focuses on embedded systems design, biomechanics, and engineering education methodology, highlighted by patented stepper motor control optimization. He holds a New York Professional Engineer license and teaches design, mechanics, and mechatronics courses while advising capstone projects.
Recognition includes:
- Patent for optimization of stepper controls to reduce unwanted dynamics in machinery
As an educator, Dr. Rogers mentors students through numerous capstone projects and independent studies, emphasizing practical application of engineering principles in industrial contexts.
