John RB Perry is a Professor of Molecular Endocrinology and Associate Group Leader at the Gurdon Institute, affiliated with the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine. He leads the Early Life Aetiology and Mechanisms of Diabetes and Related Metabolic Disorders programme at the MRC Epidemiology Unit. His research focuses on understanding the genetic and biological mechanisms linking early-life growth, reproductive ageing, and later-life metabolic diseases, utilizing large-scale human genetics and integrative omics approaches.
Previously, Perry held positions at the University of Exeter, Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (Oxford), and other institutions as a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including high-impact studies in Nature, Nature Medicine, and Science.
Research Interests: Perry's work spans human genetics, metabolic disorders, reproductive biology, and epidemiology. He investigates pathways like DNA damage response (DDR) in fertility and disease, and the role of genetic variants in obesity, puberty timing, and cancer susceptibility.
Key Awards: MRC Investigator, Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship.
