John Piprani is a Visiting Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Chester since 2016 and serves as the Archaeology Technician at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on early prehistory, particularly the British Early Upper Palaeolithic Transitional stone tool industry known as the Lincombian. He employs experimental archaeology, technological analysis, and typological studies to explore human behavior through material culture.
He earned his PhD from the University of Manchester in 2016, completing a thesis titled Penetrating the ‘transitional’ category: an emic approach to Lincombian Early Upper Palaeolithic Industries. His work emphasizes experimental methods and public engagement, documented in his blog detailing experimental archaeology projects.
