John Osborne is a retired Distinguished Research Professor and Dean Emeritus of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Carleton University. He has held faculty and administrative roles at the University of Victoria (1979–2001), Queen’s University (2001–2005), and Carleton (2005–2017). His expertise spans medieval and cultural history, with a focus on Rome’s art and archaeology from the 6th to 12th centuries. He also examines cultural exchanges between Western Europe and Byzantium.
