John Neumeier is Professor and Department Head in the Department of Physics at Montana State University's College of Letters and Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from UC San Diego (1990) and a B.S. from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (1984). His research focuses on quantum phenomena in condensed matter systems, with laboratories specializing in crystal growth and high-precision measurements.
Research Interests: Neumeier investigates low-dimensional quantum materials (superconductors, magnetic oxides) and hydrogen-bonded solids like ice. His work examines how geometric constraints affect electron behavior, thermal expansion anomalies, and phase transitions using custom instrumentation.
Recent Publications: Articles demonstrate dual focus on superconducting materials (e.g., SrTa2S5, BaNb2S5) and ice physics, with breakthrough measurements of H2O/D2O thermal expansion revealing new phase transitions. Research consistently combines materials synthesis with thermodynamic characterization.
