معرفی
John Mielke is an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health Sciences, University of Waterloo. His research bridges neuroscience, public health, and occupational medicine, with a focus on stress physiology, dietary influences on neurobiological function, and health outcomes in specific populations like firefighters and Indigenous students.
Research Interests: His work explores how psychosocial stressors and dietary factors (e.g., phosphorus, fat, DHA) affect hippocampal-dependent memory, synaptic plasticity, and disease susceptibility. He investigates stress biomarkers (e.g., hair cortisol), neuroprotective mechanisms (e.g., insulin signaling), and the molecular basis for cognitive resilience in adverse conditions.
Recent Article Trends: Over the past three years, his publications highlight interdisciplinary themes: dietary phosphorus and cancer risk (2025), Li isotope effects in neuroscience (2024), firefighter stress physiology (2023), and developmental studies on social isolation's impact on memory (2023). His work spans both clinical and basic science approaches.
