John Michael "Mike" Dahm is a part-time Lecturer at George Washington University and a Senior Resident Fellow at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies. His expertise spans military air/space technology, Indo-Pacific security, and strategic challenges posed by China. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California and an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University.

His research focuses on China's military capabilities, Indo-Pacific security dynamics, and U.S. national security strategy. Dahm has authored widely cited articles on military issues in the Indo-Pacific, particularly through the U.S. Naval War College’s China Maritime Studies Institute. He previously taught a graduate course on China’s military strategy at the National Intelligence University.
Prior to academia, Dahm served over 25 years in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer, including roles at U.S. Pacific Command, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, and as Senior Naval Intelligence Officer for China at the Office of Naval Intelligence. He also worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and MITRE Corporation, advising national security stakeholders.
He currently advises on advanced defense technologies and Indo-Pacific security through the Mitchell Institute, a think tank under George Washington University.
