Dr. Gary Espinas is a Professorial Lecturer (part-time) at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University (GWU), where he teaches courses on Russia and International Security. He concurrently serves as a Distinguished Visiting Professor in National Security at the United States Naval Academy. With a 26-year U.S. Army career, he retired as a Colonel, specializing in political-military roles, arms control, and diplomatic assignments including postings at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Department of State, and Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. His final military role was as a Military Professor in National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School.
