John Lewin

John Lewin, MD is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine where he serves as Division Chief of Breast Imaging. He is affiliated with multiple Yale entities including Yale Cancer Center, Center for Breast Cancer, and Cancer Prevention and Control Program. Dr. Lewin has held significant leadership roles in the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI), serving as Vice President (2022-2023) and President (2023-2024).

Dr. Lewin specializes in breast cancer imaging with research focused on advancing mammography techniques. His pioneering work includes conducting the first clinical trial of digital mammography for screening and developing dual-energy contrast-enhanced mammography. His research examines comparative effectiveness of different imaging modalities for breast cancer detection, with particular emphasis on contrast-enhanced techniques versus traditional mammography and MRI.
