John Lens is a Senior Lecturer (Professor of Practice) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM), part of the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. With over 50 years of professional engineering experience, he transitioned from a construction laborer to senior engineering roles, co-owning an engineering firm before pursuing a doctorate. His teaching includes courses like Intro to Civil & Environmental Engineering and Engineering Project Management. He holds a Ph.D. from UVM, M.S. from UC Berkeley, and B.S./A.S. degrees from UVM and Springfield Technical Community College.
