John Landon serves as Professor of Theatre and Technical Director for the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance within West Texas A&M University's Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities, overseeing all technical production aspects for the department's two theatres.
His academic credentials include:
- B.A. in Theatre from Hardin-Simmons University
- M.F.A. in Design and Technology from Trinity University (completed during studies at Dallas Theater Center)
Landon's creative practice centers on applied theatre technology, with expertise spanning scenic construction, stage management systems, and technical direction for diverse performance genres. His work bridges academic training and professional practice through ongoing collaborations with regional organizations including Lone Star Ballet, Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, and Fort Worth Ballet, emphasizing practical implementation of design concepts.
As faculty, he teaches Introduction to Theatre (online), Stagecraft, Stage Management, and Theatre Practicum where students gain hands-on production experience. He actively supports professional development through co-sponsoring the USITT student chapter and maintaining national membership in theatre technology organizations.
The production environment under Landon's direction provides students with comprehensive technical theatre training through direct involvement in 4-6 annual mainstage productions across theatre and dance disciplines, utilizing university workshop facilities and performance venues.
