John L Taylor is a Professor at Northumbria Law School and Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology at Northumbria University's Faculty of Health & Life Sciences. He is a chartered clinical and forensic psychologist, consultant, and approved clinician with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust. He chairs the British Psychological Society's Mental Health Act Advisory Group and has held leadership roles in professional organizations like BABCP and BPS. His research focuses on mental health needs of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, forensic psychology, and mental health law. Taylor has published over 150 papers, books, and chapters, and received awards for his contributions to clinical practice and CBT adaptation for marginalized groups.
