John Kinsella

John Kinsella is the inaugural Richard L. Thomas '53 Visiting Professor of Creative Writing at Kenyon College. A renowned Australian poet, he holds a fellowship at Churchill College, Cambridge University, and serves as editor of Stand, a leading British literary journal, while also acting as international editor for the Kenyon Review. His work bridges poetry, fiction, and verse plays, with themes deeply rooted in Australian landscapes and rural experiences.

Education: Attended the University of Western Australia. His upbringing on wheat-growing and sheep-farming properties profoundly influences his writing, which returns repeatedly to agrarian and natural themes.

Research and Publications: Has published over twenty books of poetry, fiction, and a verse play like Crop Circles, produced by Melbourne's Playbox Theater. His 1989 debut Night Parrots established his literary prominence.
