John Kinsella is the inaugural Richard L. Thomas '53 Visiting Professor of Creative Writing at Kenyon College. A renowned Australian poet, he holds a fellowship at Churchill College, Cambridge University, and serves as editor of Stand, a leading British literary journal, while also acting as international editor for the Kenyon Review. His work bridges poetry, fiction, and verse plays, with themes deeply rooted in Australian landscapes and rural experiences.

Research and Publications: Has published over twenty books of poetry, fiction, and a verse play like Crop Circles, produced by Melbourne's Playbox Theater. His 1989 debut Night Parrots established his literary prominence. Colleagues praise his prolific output and original voice, with Harold Bloom calling him a 'fountain Parnassus' of contemporary English-language poetry.
Awards and Recognition: Recognized as an international literary figure, his Churchill College fellowship underscores his scholarly contributions. Collaborations include a Nobel Prize winners' anthology with the Kenyon Review.
Teaching: Will instruct a spring poetry class at Kenyon, continuing his commitment to nurturing emerging writers through teaching and editorial work.
