John Kaldi is a Professor of Petroleum Geology and Engineering at the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide, and holds the South Australia State Chair in Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS). He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia) and Visiting Professor at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (Malaysia). Previously, he was the inaugural Head of the Australian School of Petroleum and Director of the National Centre for Petroleum Geology and Geophysics (NCPGG). As Distinguished Scientist of CO2CRC, he contributed to CO2 storage research.
Prior to academia, he spent 18 years in the petroleum industry with Shell, Arco, and Vico. His research focuses on geological seals, fault integrity, and CCS technologies. He has authored over 150 publications and is an SPE Distinguished Lecturer. Awards include AAPG’s Distinguished Member Award and multiple Certificates of Merit.
