John J. S. Harrichand, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), within the College of Education and Human Development. Of Chinese and East Indian ancestry and raised in Guyana, he is a first-generation immigrant to Canada who focuses on culturally responsive practices for minoritized communities, including international students, immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ+ individuals, and sex-trafficked survivors. His research also emphasizes early career counselor education, leadership development, and mentorship for ethnic minority counseling leaders.
