John Hansen is an Instructor and Academic Advisor in the Department of Classics and Letters at the University of Oklahoma. With a 30-year career, he has taught at high schools including Westmoore and Moore, the University of Central Oklahoma, and OU. He holds an MA in Classics (University of Cincinnati) and an MLS in Library Science (OU).
- Teaches Latin language and courses like 'Rise and Fall of Rome,' which he pioneered in 2007.
- Recipient of OU’s Excellence in Teaching Award (2009) and Dean’s Advising Award (2009).
- Advocates for classical education, addressing the Society of Classical Studies (2011) and serving on the Oklahoma Foreign Language Teachers Association board for 30 years.
His work emphasizes teacher recruitment/mentoring, including training new high school Latin instructors. He has advised Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity (2009–2012) and remains active in classical organizations like the Classical Association of the Middle West and South.
